We invite tribal members to comment. This letter is our lawyer's interpretation of our Constitution. The question then become this: Who controls the tribe? The attorneys? If the leaders must obey what the attorneys advise them, when it comes to dealing with inner-tribal affairs, then the attorneys run the tribe. This cannot be.

However, a more benign view of this incident would be that the attorneys were consulted, and supported the CBC members--against both the chairman and the people.

So, it is a bad precedent, either way. What say ye, the people?

from Eleanor McDaniel (to Scott Rains) Monday, May 14, 2012

This is a correction to my message below [above]. Scott Rains informed me that he did not quote William Norman but that the quotes in the his news article are taken from a memo from the attorneys. But, the memo from the attorneys did misinterpret our Comanche law.

From SCOTT RAINS, Lawton Constitution, May 14, 2012, 4:32 p.m.

You're misrepresenting Sunday's story, Eleanor. Norman did NOT speak with me for the latest story nor is he cited as such. I got the information from a memo sent to tribal members from the lawyer's office.
Please forward a correction to your mailing list. If I mess up my facts, I publish.

COMANCHE CONSTITUTION: NEW AMENDMENTS
On Oct. 1, 2011, The Comanche Nation Business Committee (CBC) passed a Resolution 108-11, which allowed the CBC to draft proposed Amendments to our Comanche Constitution. We have posted the draft of the changes here on ComancheMedia. This document (in several pages) was presented anonymously to ComancheMedia. We do not know the source, nor have wepursued it. However, we feel that releasing this draft is very useful, and lets the people know what the CBC is proposing. The CBC will apparently be asking for a Tribal Council vote on the changes (amendments) some time in the future. We do not know when. Please share your thoughts on any aspect that interests you. ComancheMedia hopes the publishing of this draft is of benefit to all, to our leadership and to our people. We want to facilitate communication. This has to be a good thing.

Comanche Media:
I am the grandson of Fred Henry Chemah of Walters Oklahoma and the son of Bertha May Chemah. I currently live in Florida and have been following the evolution of the Comanche affairs from a far. The progression of events such as the CBC and the collective efforts of the tribal members to insure the well being of the Comanche people is a very worth while pursuit. The introduction of the Comanche media is an essential component of the insurance of an open and honest management of goverment over the governed and needs to be embraced and privately owned within the Comanche framework. We must remember that the ideal of sole power of control over the decision process only leads to the single minded view of the most manipulative group within the community. A concept of societies of the dictatorships of the Middle East and the views of the invaders of our own past such as the Spaniards and early settlers of this continent.
I would welcome the opportunity to transcribe via e-mail with other members of the Comanche Nation and look forward to attending the Comanche Nation Fair.

This video is the entire content of the Election Board meeting of 2-27-12. ComancheMedia was there and recorded the meeting. The camera is defective but adequate. The audio is weak also, but adequate. When ComancheMedia obtains desired funding, we will acquire proper equipment. We are not supported at this time.

In the mean time, we thank you for your patience. We seek to serve the people.

Margie, I'll let everyone know just as soon as it is ready. I appreciate your special connection to the film! Right now, I'm not sure what label is going to be used. There is still opportunity for the Comanche Nation to invest, when it comes to ownership and distribution. So far, the Nation has not invested. I don't know why. There were invited long ago, and knew about the film long before I myself did. There are many Kiowa in the film, and it is cast as a Kiowa story. So, guess who the bad guys are? Kiowa tend to use Comanche lore, as you may know.
